Loose battery causing unit to “blank out”
|
Small square of paper towel folded to make 4 layers to snug the battery up. (don’t over do it, 4 layers works.)

Cingular Firmware 1.04
|
This firmware upgrade was advertised as a voicemail fix. It speeds up Bluetooth connections a little and frees up 2 MB of memory... worth installing, but nothing significant about this release.

Sprint Firmware
1.08
|
This firmware upgrade frees up an average of 5 MB of memory, primarily by allowing more than one contact record per 512k of existing memory... some reported speed increases, some noted BT improvements. Lots of excitement over this release.

Loads of incompatibility issues and a whole host of problems are being reported daily after the installation of this firmware update... time will tell.

Singapore beta GSM updater 1.21
|
Unsuccessfully attempted to install both the hotsync and SD versions of this beta GSM updater 1.21 (out of Singapore). For those that have successfully installed it... more incompatibility issues and out of memory messages are being reported after the installation of this firmware update.

Official Unlocked “Unbranded” GSM Updater 1.28

Waiting to hear anything good to come from this firmware update... more problems than benefits so far.

We are no longer posting patches and fixes on this site as a result of the obvious ineffectiveness of those that have been released to date.
We have come to realize that even those updates that have proven to have some positive effects for the 650 have been accompanied by undesirable side effects, bugs for lack of a better word.
We feel that the long range success of Palm now rests solely in their ability to forge alliances with other credible companies that actually bring new products to market that work and do this on time.
Basically, any one who has had any recent experience with Palm / PalmOne knows that nothing comes out on time and when it does, it is generally an inferior product.
Our condolences to the former Handspring.
