Contacts
After adding a new contact to your list & clicking ‘done’ the app redirects you to some seemingly random other contact rather than allowing you to view the new contact in the list.

Call Log
Upon entering the Call Log, instead of having the last call in the list highlighted, the ‘cancel’ button is highlighted. This adds an additional step to call that last call or begin scrolling down the list with hard keys.

Bluetooth
The average Bluetooth enthusiast that bought the Treo 650 with intentions of having acceptable performance is gravely disappointed. The Treo 650 DOES NOT WORK with full Bluetooth functionality! Problems range from inconsistent comms with a BT headset to no voice dialing at all. There are two prominent programs designed specifically for the 650 that do not work. Much of the available 3rd party software either completely disables or cripples Bluetooth comms altogether.

Loose Battery
Screen just goes blank with no beep, no warning, so you never know how long you were out of communication with others. This can obviously be devastating in business.

Memory
(type of)
It has recently been suggested to us that the new memory platform and subsequent shortage of “available OS resources” may be the underlying cause of the majority of the problems we’re seeing today.

Memory
(amount of)
It is insulting to have not put in at least 128 MB of memory in the Treo 650. The complete change of memory type notwithstanding, this increase in memory was way overdue even in the Treo 600... PalmOne, how much would it cost?

Touchscreen not working?
When a call is in progress and you want to end it, you can touch the ‘soft’ “Hang Up” button... but often enough, one touch isn’t enough and you have to touch it a second time.

3rd Party Software
Much of the 3rd Party Software out there that works with the Treo 600 does not work with the Treo 650... theories abound, but for the average user it means the Treo 650 has far less universal appeal and expandability that the Treo 600 has. Question: Isn’t the global effort in 3rd party Palm software development and the subsequent flexibility & expandability of the device what the appeal for the Palm platform is all about?

Phone Features Control
With the Treo 600 you could control Call Features with your hard keys while in the middle of a call, ie: space bar turned on the speaker phone and period key activated/deactivated the hold feature. PalmOne seems to have eliminated this too. We feel that this is one more way that you DON’T have one handed operation.

On/Off
Green and Red “wake-up” buttons tend not to work right away with just one push. This is especially true when button pushes are in close succession... man, what’s up with this?

System Resets too
Not only does the 650 perform soft resets occasionally and randomly... it now appears that it can sometimes perform random system resets, which completely dumps your preferences. This results in the user spending 10 or more minutes going from app to app resetting how you want your Treo 650 to work.

Calculator
The calculator does not perform ‘real-world’ every day calculations properly. Example: 10 + 8% = 10.8, but not according to the Treo 650!

Wired headset
No ring tone on a wired headset.

No Cradle
Again, another Palm product shipped without a desktop cradle... why provide desktop software and an indication that this is an effective office tool and then NOT provide a cradle. Note to PalmOne: Please make certain that you have a reasonably priced 3rd party cradle out there before you release! The Sprint phone has been out for 5 months now and no decent, reasonably priced desktop cradle exists... Every Palm Pilot used to ship with a cradle.

More to follow... we’ve run out of time... there is a lot more to come... evidently, unfortunately.

Ring & Earpiece Volume
Ringing and Earpiece Volume flutuate wildly. No predicting exactly what level the next call will be.

Ringtones
You are supposed to be able to record your own ringtones AND assign them to individual speed dial entries, this feature does not work... PalmOne recently RE-WORDed their site to accommodate this feature’s omission.

Keyboard
Keyboard is loose, then tight again?... many are reporting this.
3/31/05
Stylus
Two issues: Stylus is too thin, also stylus fit in the unit is inconsistent - most report that it falls out and is lost, like mine.

Reset Hole
The access hole to reset the unit is only accessible by removing the battery compartment door.

Tasks/Vibrate
The Treo 650, is supposed to vibrate as part of an alert if it is set to do so to remind you of a scheduled Task. It doesn’t.
4/14/05
Hesitation & Delays
The Treo 650 hesitates when given commands in the phone mode and is extremely slow moving from screen to screen.

Find
The “Find” function misses items when performing a search. Four or Five back to back “Find” searches can produce different results... vs. the Treo 600, where search results were always the same.

Finding a Contact by Keyboard
In Phone mode, you can set your preferences so that when you type the first and last initials of a contact or the first few letters it will lead you to that contact. This works only part of the time, no matter whether you have preferences set to display “Last Name, First Name” or “Company, Last Name” With the Treo 600, it worked all the time.

WiFi
We need WiFi in the Treo 650. WiFi support is growing rapidly, becoming a standard service everywhere and is, in fact, popping up in some pretty unexpected locations. Very soon all advanced wireless devices will have WiFi capabilities as a standard feature. PalmOne, will you be a leader in your field and give us WiFi in the Treo 650 or have you already passed your peak as a world innovator in electronics?

Busy/Redial
When a dialed number is busy, there is a message “Line is busy. Redial?” which is supposed to pop up immediately... this message often takes 30 seconds to pop up, rendering it useless... it was a very useful tool that would come up within seconds on the Treo 600.

Speakerphone Volume
The volume with the Treo 600 was fine... the volume on this Treo 650 is so inadequate that at times you can barely hear a busy signal in a quiet office setting.

Overall Anger
PalmOne what is your problem?
How could you allow this potentially great piece of hardware to be so anemic?
